WINNSBORO, S.C. — The Town of Winnsboro is inviting residents to share their ideas and feedback as it prepares to apply for a grant that could bring exciting new recreational spaces — including a splash pad — to the downtown area.
A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, at 12 p.m. at Winnsboro Town Hall, located at 207 N. Congress Street. The town council is seeking community input to strengthen its application for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), a program managed by the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism.
If approved, the grant would help fund improvements as part of the Thespian Hall revitalization project, focusing on outdoor recreation and community engagement.
Phase 1 of the plan includes adding a splash pad, interior courtyard, and public plaza — features designed to enhance downtown’s appeal and foster a greater sense of connection among residents and visitors.
“We’re inviting the community to participate in shaping this project,” said Town Manager Chris Clauson. “Your voice matters. Whether you’re a parent, athlete, nature lover, or someone who simply enjoys spending time outdoors, we want to hear from you. Together, we can create a space that reflects the needs and dreams of our community.”
Residents unable to attend the meeting can submit written comments by November 7 via email to carol@townofwinnsboro.sc.gov.
